the whale shark experience (Brgy. Tan-awan, Oslob, Cebu)

The biggest creature I’ve ever seen. 🙂 and we’ve heard that they’re just BABIES! Gaaahd, I wonder how big their parents are. 😀

It was really fun and worth it. Kudos to LGU of Oslob and Brgy. Tan-awan locals for protecting these awesome creatures.

Tips:

  • Ride a BUS from South Bus Terminal (Cebu City) going to Bato via Oslob/Liloan, and tell the conductor that you have to stop in Brgy. Tan-awan, Oslob, Cebu
  • Bus fare: Php 155 (aircon), Php 138-150 (non-aircon) as of July 13, 2012
  • There will be people/locals who will welcome you and try to invite you in the resorts. Some resorts have entrance fees, some don’t. In our case, we went to Aaron’s Resort (BLUE Gate) and paid an entrance fee.
  • Fees:
    • Php 50/head entrance fee (Aaron’s Resort, BLUE Gate)
    • Php 300/head registration for whale-shark watching only (on the boat)
    • Php 400-500/head registration if you’re swimming/snorkeling (RECOMMENDED for awesome experience), including snorkeling gears and stuff (the resort has a complete array of stuffs to rent but it’s better to bring your own gears)
    • Php 400/rent underwater camera, and Php 50/dvd for copies or you can use your own SD card, but I suggest you bring your own underwater camera or underwater casing for protection
  • Don’t bother using sunblock lotion, its prohibited.
  • No touching the whaleshark.
  • Have fun!
