2010 has been a great year for me.
I graduated from college.
5 years of hard work and lots of sleepless nights finally paid off. No more studying for exams, lining up during enrollments, waking up 6am in the morning. But I will totally miss the bonding with my friends and classmates. Unlike before when you always see and hang out each other at school, now you can barely see them even at batch parties and birthdays. I kinda miss the feeling doing assignments, projects and studying with them. I honestly miss wearing my uniform. But hey, we gotta move on, right? 😀
I landed an awesome job.
The moment I was interning at Caresharing, I knew it was the kind of company I wanna work with when I graduate. Somehow they helped me to be more awesome and great as a programmer. And I have the coolest colleagues 🙂
I travelled a lot of places.
When I was in college, I never had the luxury of travelling outside Cebu City so much until I had a job. Our company seem to travel a lot. This year, we went to Bantayan Island (yes, it was my first time then), Dumaguete, Apo Island and Siquijor (my second trip to the island this year). I saw awesome marine life and beautiful islands that I only used to see on TV. And hey, I’ve been to Siquijor twice, and no, it’s not scary at all. I honestly think it’s one of the nicest places here in the Philippines.
I got fatter and fatter.
Yeah. I have this pants I wore during my graduation, and when I tried it again for my officemate’s wedding this month, it didn’t fit anymore. I was really shocked! It was only 9 months, and my waistline just increased in size. 🙁 Even my other shorts, pants and shirts looked smaller when I wear them. I kept on telling myself to exercise, jog and go to gym this year, but I was so lazy to do it. Thus the fatness. But I am fine with it, just shocking when I compare myself when I was in college (I tell you, I look like a malnourished cancer patient).
I get to own a Mac.
And I never thought I would. When I was in college, I never imagined myself owning a laptop in my first year after graduation. Let alone a Macbook. But I’m happy I did. Cocoa apps here I come!
I’m still single.
Okay. No comment on that.
Startup team and freelance projects.
I built 2 sites this year and I am really proud of it. One was a project from an organization in a school, and the other one was a search tool I made (mainly for myself). It was stressful, especially when your clients need it in a week, but it was worth it. I get to learn a lot of things, both from coding and dealing with other people. We were also inspired to build a startup team mainly composed of my CompSci classmates and we’re starting to receive projects from diff. clients.
I got myself a dog. (read my post about it)
Gru has been with me since October and it was really fun having a dog. I never thought it was easy taking care a dog. Dogs are basically fun-loving and constantly needs human contact, and I had a hard time giving it to Gru. I always leave the house early and arrive home really late, and I always miss playing with my dog for most of the time of the week. Gru’s always alone in the house, and I can always sense it to him he’s happy when I’m home. Although he’s really stubborn, I love that dog so much. It’s really nice to have someone waiting for you at home, and so excited to be with you. 😀
The year was really great. Hopefully 2011 will be as great (or much better) than 2010 for me.
I promise myself to exercise and lose some weight. Hopefully have an awesome coding and projects to do next year.
And yeah, hopefully not single. 🙂
